Visiting TESO Life in Jacksonville, Florida: What to Expect

My son and I finally went to explore TESO Life in Jacksonville, Florida. The store officially opened on July 10, 2026, and the grand opening attracted huge crowds. We saw photos and videos of people waiting in long lines just to get inside, followed by checkout lines that wrapped around the store.

We decided to wait a while before visiting and let some of that opening excitement settle down. When we arrived at around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon, the store was clearly still thriving, but it was not jam-packed. We were able to walk around comfortably, look at everything and check out without a long wait.

If you have been wondering what TESO Life is, what it sells or whether it is worth visiting, here is what we found.

What Is TESO Life?

TESO Life is commonly described online as a Japanese department store, but “Asian lifestyle store” is probably a more accurate description. Its inventory includes products and brands from Japan, Korea, China and other parts of Asia.

TESO Group was founded in New York in 2017 with the goal of bringing Asian products and retail trends to the American market. The company established its early presence in New York before beginning its expansion outside the state between 2021 and 2023.

TESO Group now operates several retail concepts, including TESO Life, TESO X and TESO Mini. It also has private-label brands for beauty, home products and snacks. The company says it plans to continue expanding rapidly throughout the United States.

The Jacksonville location is especially notable because TESO Group describes it as its largest TESO Life store in North America.

A Huge Selection of Blind Boxes and Collectibles

One of the largest areas in the center of the store is dedicated to blind boxes. There were rows and rows of them, along with displays showing the figures you might find inside.

A blind box contains one surprise figure from a particular collection. The packaging shows the possible designs, but you do not know which one you purchased until you open it. Some collections also include a rare “secret” figure that is harder to find.

We saw collectible figures from brands and character lines including Lucky Emma and Funism, along with displays featuring cute animals, fantasy characters and other highly detailed designs. The store also carries familiar characters from brands such as Sanrio, including plenty of Hello Kitty merchandise.

The Rolife Wooden Puzzle Section

Another area that surprised us was the large Rolife display. It was filled with wooden three-dimensional puzzles, miniature rooms, buildings, music boxes and mechanical model kits.

I had no idea these elaborate wooden puzzles were such a big thing. Although they fit perfectly with the store’s Japanese-inspired atmosphere, Rolife is actually part of Robotime, a Chinese company that specializes in three-dimensional wooden models and miniature DIY kits.

The finished models include miniature bookstores, cafés, greenhouses, houses, vehicles and famous landmarks. Some kits have moving mechanical parts, while others light up or play music.

The Jacksonville store had completed examples on display, which made it easier to see what each project would look like after assembly. They are part puzzle, part craft project and part home décor. Some appear fairly approachable, while the more complicated designs look like they could keep someone busy for many hours.

Snacks, Drinks and Unusual Flavors

The food section was another major part of the store. There were aisles of imported chips, candy, cookies, crackers, noodles, seaweed snacks, gummies and other treats.

You can find recognizable brands such as Doritos and Hello Kitty-branded products, but many come in flavors or varieties that are difficult to find in regular American grocery stores. There were also plenty of products from brands we had never tried before.

My son chose a bottle of strawberry Calpico, a sweet, noncarbonated Japanese drink with a light cultured-milk flavor. I tried an Ocean Bomb peach-flavored sparkling water in a cute Mofusand-style cat can.

There is also a refrigerated section filled with cold drinks and frozen treats. The ice cream selection looked particularly interesting, with colorful packages, unusual flavors and styles of frozen desserts that you do not normally see in a standard supermarket. We did not try any ice cream during this visit, but it is something I would like to get next time!

We Tried the Green Cilantro Doritos

One of our more questionable purchases was a bag of green cilantro-flavored Doritos.

In case you are wondering, yes, they do taste weird.

They were not necessarily bad—just very different from what I expect when eating a Dorito. The chips had a noticeable cilantro flavor and were also a little spicy. I did not hate them, but I would not buy another bag.

That is part of the fun of shopping at TESO Life, though. You can pick up a familiar brand and still end up trying a flavor you have never seen before. We also got some Lime Pringles.

Cosmetics, Skincare and Personal Care Products

TESO Life also has a large cosmetics and skincare department. In fact, beauty products take up considerably more space than the home goods.

The department includes Japanese and Korean skincare, makeup, facial masks, cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreens, hair products, beauty tools and personal-care items. There were products at a variety of price points, from inexpensive sheet masks and small beauty accessories to more elaborate skincare products and gift sets.

Anyone interested in J-beauty or K-beauty could easily spend a significant amount of time in this section. It is also helpful to have so many products available in person rather than trying to choose unfamiliar skincare online.

The Home Goods Section Was Smaller Than Expected

I thought it was interesting that TESO Life is sometimes described as a Japanese department store or home goods store because the actual home section was only a couple of aisles.

We found kitchen utensils, small cooking tools, plates, bowls, cups and other tabletop items. There were also household accessories, storage and organization products, bottles, containers and a few decorative items.

The selection was cute and worth browsing, but shoppers expecting something similar to a large home store may be surprised. At least at the Jacksonville location, collectibles, beauty products and food appeared to be much bigger parts of the shopping experience.

TESO Life does sell home goods, but I would not consider them the main attraction.

Other Things You Can Find at TESO Life

In addition to blind boxes, puzzles, snacks, cosmetics and kitchenware, the store carries a changing assortment of:

Bottles, cups and food containers
Candy and packaged desserts
Instant noodles and savory snacks

Refrigerated drinks and ice cream

There is a lot to see, and the store’s size makes it feel more like an attraction than a quick shopping stop.

What TESO Life Does Not Have

We went into the store without really knowing what to expect. My son was hoping there would be a large selection of squishies. We found a few here and there, but there was not a dedicated squishy section.

He also thought there might be crane games inside. There were no crane games at the Jacksonville TESO Life when we visited.

The confusion makes sense because TESO Group also operates TESO X, a separate concept focused more heavily on toys, collectibles, blind boxes and interactive entertainment. TESO Life is primarily a retail store, so visitors should not expect it to be an arcade.

Even without the squishy section or crane games, my son still found plenty of interesting things to look at.

The TESO Shopping Bags Are Pretty Cool

Even the checkout bag was cute! Our purchases were placed in a bright orange TESO bag featuring the company’s monkey character.

The bag is sturdy and reusable, and it made a fun souvenir from our first trip to the store.

Was TESO Life Expensive?

We spent about $60, and I felt like we came home with a good amount of stuff for the money. Our haul included drinks, chips, candy, snacks and several other fun finds.

Prices vary depending on what you are buying. Individual snacks and drinks are generally an easy way to try something new without spending much. Blind boxes, detailed collectibles and elaborate wooden puzzle kits can raise the total much faster.

It would be easy to visit with a small snack budget, but it would also be easy for a collector to spend quite a bit.

Is TESO Life Jacksonville Worth Visiting?

TESO Life was fun to visit and do something a little different. It has an unusual combination of an Asian snack market, beauty store, collectible shop and small home goods department. Even if you do not collect blind boxes or know much about Asian skincare, there are enough unusual products to make it fun to browse.

I would recommend visiting if you enjoy trying unusual snacks, exploring imported beauty products, collecting cute figures or simply walking through a store filled with things you do not see every day.

However, I do not recommend the cilantro Doritos!
