Got some aggression to work out, or just want to smash some stuff? Maybe you should give a rage room a try! Read this review of our experience at Crash Out Rage Room in Jacksonville Beach, FL.
A rage room (also called a smash room or anger room) is a controlled environment where you can safely break objects like glass bottles, old electronics, plates, or furniture while wearing protective gear.
Crash Out Rage Room
We did the Family Crash package for $180, which included 45 minutes in the room and lots of stuff to break! Everything from glass to a large TV. We even got to smash the furniture.
The pricing goes as low as $40 for a single person “quick crash” if you just want to try it out. All packages include safety gear: helmets, gloves, face shields, and coveralls.
Your experience starts by checking in and signing the waiver. Then you will put on an orange jumpsuit over your clothes and choose gloves and a full-face helmet.
You need to wear close-toed shoes because nobody wants glass in their toes.
They have lockers to store your stuff, and the jumpsuits have pockets so you can take your phone with you.

Once you suit up, you’ll watch a little safety video that explains the rules. Basically, one person smashes at a time, and no out of control overhead smashing.
You also are allowed to break everything in the room, unless it says, “Do Not Break.” Also, don’t break the walls and windows.
In our room the only things that said not to break were the table in the center and the closet door.
Choose Your Weapons

After you suit up, you get to choose your weapons. You can take as many as you want, and there is a great variety. Lots of bats, hammers, crowbars, sledgehammers and some unique choices like a golf club and bowling ball.
My two favorites ended up being the baseball bat and golf club. The sledgehammer was way too heavy but came in handy when we got down to destroying the furniture.
After you choose your weapons, you get to pose for a pre-smashing photo:

Time to Smash Things
You enter the room and they give a quick rundown on what not to break. Items were set-up around the room, and there was also a box on the floor filled with more items.
We had a lot of glasses and vases (very satisfying to hit with a bat), plates, a flat screen TV, a painting, table and chairs. There were also some random things that were more of a challenge to smash, like a bicycle helmet (no match for the sledgehammer) and plastic dishes.
You can also pair your phone with their speakers if you want to play your own music. Once we got our playlist going, it was time to start smashing.
Glass will fly everywhere! So, you need to be careful where your friends are standing if you have a group. We coordinated pretty well so nobody got hit with any projectiles.
Check out the video from our visit to Crash Out Rage Room:
We all had a good time, and I was impressed with how thoroughly we destroyed everything! Also, the 45-minute time was plenty. We had smashed most of the small stuff in the first 20 minutes. It took us a bit longer to take down the table and chairs. But when we were done, everything was in bits and pieces.

You get surprisingly sweaty breaking stuff! It felt like we all had a good workout, and it was really nice that they have water ready for you at the end. It was exactly what we needed!
The overall Crash Out Rage Room Review: totally recommend it! I plan on going back and taking my son. He just meets the 10-year-old age limit, and his favorite activity is destruction of any kind.
He’s been asking to go, but I wanted to check it out myself first.

Benefits of Visiting a Rage Room
Life has a subtle way of piling on pressure, and stress accumulates until it manifests with physical symptoms. A rage room gives your body something most of us don’t get enough of: a full-force physical outlet for stress.
Swinging a bat, throwing plates, or smashing a TV activates large muscle groups and burns off adrenaline. Instead of internalizing frustration, you’re channeling it into movement. That physical release alone can leave you feeling lighter and unexpectedly clear-headed.
Emotional Venting Without Collateral Damage
We’re often told to “calm down” or “be rational,” but emotions don’t evaporate just because we ignore them. Rage rooms provide a structured space to express anger in a way that doesn’t hurt relationships, reputations, or drywall in your living room.
For some people, the experience feels cathartic. For others, it’s simply a lot of fun. Either way, it creates a physical release and a feeling of satisfaction when you make that first tremendous smash.
You Don’t Need Rage to visit a Rage Room
I honestly wasn’t particularly full of stress or rage when we visited. I just wanted to break things with my friends! Just having a crazy moment of total mayhem, but without worrying about getting arrested or destroying your own property is a lot of fun.
I recommend giving it a try, either at Crash Out, or a rage room in your area. It’s quite a unique experience!
