Hurricane Helene crashed into the Florida panhandle this week as a massive category 4 hurricane and made its effects felt all the way to our coast in Atlantic Beach.
It got really loud and windy around midnight. Things kept banging into the house and waking me up. Then all the power went out, and the generator came on, which made all the electronics go crazy and restart.
In the morning, we went outside to assess the damage and were greeted with a lot of debris covering the neighborhood. A lot of our plants had blown over, all the pool floats had blown into the pool, and a large limb crashed down on my husband’s pull-up bar by the side of the house.
I posted a Reel on Facebook of the yard and tree limb:

Trees Down and Power Out
A tree came down on the power lines on Selva Marina, knocking out our power for most of the day. We did a walk around the neighborhood and saw several trees down, both oaks and palms.
All the houses appeared safe, and the trees were down in yards, not on houses.
The morning was buzzing with the sounded of blowers and chainsaws taking care of all the downed limbs and clearing the streets. Just another day of hurricane clean-up.

We were lucky to be on this coast and only get a small piece of the hurricane! It caused major damage and deaths in the panhandle.
Hoping this is the last bad storm of the season. I’m looking forward to putting up Halloween decorations!
