A Visit to the Mayport Garden Club Tiki Speakeasy

The newest and swankiest place to grab a drink in the Jacksonville area is located next to Reve Brewery in Mayport, where you’ll enter a side door that opens into a garden corridor that leads you to the Mayport Garden Club (MGC).

The place is tiki themed from start to finish, and I was delighted to see a lot of the guests were also dressed on-theme in Hawaiian shirts and floral dresses.

The Mayport Garden Club

Inside is very dimly lit, so please excuse the dark photos. The whole place oozes tiki themed ambiance. Even the bathroom ceiling is decorated and on-theme.

Their drink menu boasts the traditional tiki fare, along with their own signature concoctions. The drinks feature locally sourced craft spirits and house made cordials. They even shave their own ice for the drinks using a machine with a hand crank, off to the side of the bar.

Total Tiki Experience

The tiki speakeasy concept is from the founders of Reve Brewing and Bones Pizza. It’s a total tropical lounge experience and reservations are required as space is limited inside. And it is drinks only, not a food restaurant, but you can order food from next door and eat it there!

We reserved a spot for two at the bar and it ended up being a great spot for watching all the fun drinks being made. We had lots of questions about what they were and what was going into them, and the bartender was happy to answer our questions.

I ordered a Mai Tai, which is my one exception to the rule when it comes to drinking rum. I went through a big rum phase in college and can barely stand the smell now, but I can’t pass up a good Mai Tai. The Mayport Garden Club Mai Tai was excellent both in taste and appearance.

You’ll find the Mayport Garden Club hiding behind a black door off to the left of Reve Brewing. The golden snake door handle hints that there might be something special inside!

We had a great date night, and I’m really looking forward to going back and trying all those beautiful tropical drinks I saw being made.
